Kyle Busch won Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway, giving him two wins so far in 2021, including his Clash victory.
Kyle Busch got the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season unofficially underway by winning the Clash exhibition race at the Daytona International Speedway road course back in early February, taking the checkered flag after a “clash” between race leaders Chase Elliott and Ryan Blaney in the final turn on the final lap.
Busch secured his first points win of the season in the season’s 11th race at Kansas Speedway on Sunday afternoon, 23 races earlier than he secured his first win of the 2020 season when he won at Texas Motor Speedway in late October.
His win made him victorious for the 17th straight season going back to his rookie year in 2005. He is tied with the late David Pearson on the all-time list for consecutive seasons with a win and trails Richard Petty’s record by just one season.
Taking a look at Busch’s two wins so far in 2021, one thing stands out.

He has only won the races in which his last name is included in the race name. He won the Busch Clash back in February, and his win on Sunday came in a race that was named the Buschy McBusch Race 400 thanks to a fan vote that capped off a special recent promotion by Busch Beer.
There is absolutely no connection here whatsoever other than the fact that his name is the same as the beer’s, so it is quite ironic that he is two for two winning races that contain the name “Busch” in them so far in 2021.
Perhaps next year Busch Beer should name the Kansas Speedway race the Harvicky McHarvick Race 400. The Stewart-Haas Racing driver carries the brand as a primary sponsor on his #4 Ford, and he finished in second place behind Busch (the driver, not the beer) on Sunday afternoon as he continues to seek his first win since last September.
Unfortunately for Kyle, there are no more “Busch” races on the 2021 schedule. While he will be looking to carry this trend into next year, he will want to make sure he secures a few wins in other races first.
