NASCAR: Brad Keselowski out at Team Penske after 2021?
By Randy Smith
Brad Keselowski is set to become a free agent after the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season, and he seems to be entertaining the idea of making a change.
Last year, Brad Keselowski was three wins deep into the season before signing a one-year contract extension with Team Penske in August. Through 13 races this year, the 2012 NASCAR Cup Series champion has one win to his name, but he seems to be ready to have contract talks sooner rather than later.
The driver of the #2 Ford Mustang is Team Penske’s only pending free agent, with teammates Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney under contract for next year and beyond.
Team owner Roger Penske has said that there’s no reason why they wouldn’t renew Keselowski’s contract. Since asked that question, Penske has seen his driver win at Talladega Superspeedway.
Yet Keselowski remains unsigned for 2022.

Keselowski has told Spire Motorsports driver Corey LaJoie on LaJoie’s podcast, Stacking Pennies, that the lack of contract gets to him a little bit. Though lack of contract talks with Team Penske remain, he is ready to talk business now.
Motorsport’s Jim Utter has reported that Keselowski, who has not kept a secret his desire to remain in the sport in an ownership capacity once he retires from driving, has been offered a driver role as well as a co-owner role with Roush Fenway Racing for next year, which would make the team Roush-Fenway-Keselowski Racing.
This could emerge as a primary option for Keselowski, who is in talks with other teams about his contract as well, and it would allow him to continue driving for Ford while solidifying an ownership role for himself once he retires.
Keselowksi is no stranger to NASCAR’s “Silly Season” and being in a lame duck year with his contract, but the 37-year-old Rochester Hills, Michigan native has an offer to leave what has been his racing home since 2010, and he seems to be entertaining the idea of doing so.
