Possible NASCAR renegades: No. 3 – Austin Cindric

The 2020 NASCAR Xfinity Series champion has certainly shown that he can compete in the three NASCAR national series, and with a championship already to his name, he currently leads the Xfinity Series point standings, making him a serious threat to defend his title.

More from NASCAR Cup Series

Austin Cindric’s racing ability is there for sure, but this is more of a matter of what he does with that ability. Cindric is no stranger to making sure he grabs the checkered flag if he’s in a position to do so.

Take a look back at his days competing in the Truck Series, when he spun out Kaz Grala to win his only race in the series, then driving for Brad Keselowski Racing, at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Cindric didn’t show much remorse about the incident, stating, “He already had a win.”

He hasn’t slowed down from there, either. In February’s Xfinity Series race at the Daytona International Speedway road course, he turned A.J. Allmendinger to win the first stage when Allmendinger threw a late block, totaling Allmendinger’s #16 Chevrolet and damaging his own #22 Ford in the process.

With Cindric currently running a part-time schedule in the Cup Series and being set to make his full-time debut next year, it remains to be seen how and when he will make his move to establish himself as one of the next NASCAR renegades.
