Drivers most likely to switch teams after 2021: No. 4 – Ross Chastain

Ross Chastain finds himself in the same situation as Kurt Busch. We know he won’t be back with Chip Ganassi Racing in the 2022 season considering the fact that they will be acquired by Trackhouse Racing Team after the 2021 season. We just don’t know if he will “switch teams” or be out of the Cup Series altogether.

Again, we’re going to go with the former, considering the upside and talent that Chastain has shown in his climb to the Cup Series and in his first season behind the wheel of the #42 Chevrolet for Chip Ganassi’s team.

An ideal landing spot for Chastain in 2022 would be Trackhouse Racing Team, and they have confirmed that they see both current Chip Ganassi Racing drivers as legitimate options to fill the seat alongside Daniel Suarez’s #99 Chevrolet.

They may have tipped their hand that they’d prefer Busch, given the fact that there were rumors of Busch joining the team in a second car even before the big news about their acquisition of Chip Ganassi Racing was announced, but Busch isn’t guaranteed to go that route, especially with 23XI Racing lurking as an option.

Bottom line, Chastain finding himself out of a ride for 2022 isn’t all that likely. Expect him to end up with a new Cup team next year.
