Top remaining free agents for 2022: No. 4 – Ryan Newman

Ryan Newman knows that he will not be back full-time with Roush Fenway Racing in the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season with Brad Keselowski set to become a co-owner of the team and replace him behind the wheel of the #6 Ford as well.

While many believe that the 43-year-old South Bend, Indiana native may call it a career after the 2021 season concludes, he has been adamant that he still wants to compete, even though he does not have anything lined up for next year.

Even with a full-time return to Roush Fenway Racing out of the question, however, a return to the team hasn’t been completely ruled out. When the Keselowski deal was reportedly a done deal back in March, the team had internal discussions about potentially running a third car in select races for Newman in 2022.

Whether or not this is still on the table is unknown, but it is also entirely possible that Newman would only entertain a full-time return. If that is the case, he could still have a few options.

JTG Daugherty Racing and Front Row Motorsports have not confirmed anything about their driver lineups for next season, and Spire Motorsports are rumored to have purchased a charter from StarCom Racing to run a second car full-time after selling two of their three charters to Kaulig Racing.
