Formula 1 lineup set after leaked announcement confirmed
By Asher Fair
With three races remaining in the 2021 Formula 1 season, the 2022 driver lineup is officially complete. Here is how it looks.
After several weeks without any new confirmations for the 2022 Formula 1 season as far as the driver lineup is concerned, the 20th and final seat on the grid for next year has been filled.
Alfa Romeo confirmed that rookie Guanyu Zhou is set to partner Valtteri Bottas next year, a confirmation that came after it was leaked by Alfa Romeo dealers in China that Zhou was set to take Antonio Giovinazzi’s seat as Formula 1’s first ever Chinese driver.
They posted the following message: “Congrats to Zhou on becoming the first Chinese F1 driver.”
All in all, 16 of the 20 drivers competing in 2021 are set to stay put for 2022.
Two of the other four are set to change teams while the other two will be leaving Formula 1.
Seven of 10 teams are set to see no changes while two teams are set to see one change and one team is set to see a lineup overhaul.
Without further ado, here is the full driver lineup for the 2022 Formula 1 season.
