NASCAR: 5 teams that still need drivers for 2022

NASCAR teams that still need drivers: No. 4 – Rick Ware Racing
This situation is by far the most intriguing as the silly season aspect of the offseason starts to heat up. First and foremost, Rick Ware Racing have not confirmed any of their drivers for the 2022 season.
Secondly, it is believed that they will be running just two cars next year instead of the four they ran in 2021. This alone makes this situation intriguing because of the impact it could have on the charter market.
While confirmation from the team on this downsize has not been made, they did hint at it on Twitter a little while ago, posting only the logos of the #15 team and the #51 team on a Daytona 500 countdown. The move would make sense, considering Rick Ware’s previous openness about being willing to sell or lease out at least one of his charters for 2022.
Rick Ware Racing fielded the #15 team, the #51 team, the #52 team and the #53 team in 2021, though interestingly, the #51 team was fielded using a charter owned by Richard Petty Motorsports and the entry was classified as a Petty Ware Racing entry.
So with all things considered, it looks as though two more charters will be on the move. This, of course, doesn’t necessarily mean that Rick Ware Racing won’t use one of their own charters to field the #51 entry in 2022, depending on how things play out. This is still somewhat of a gray area.
With Spire Motorsports still seeking a second charter and GMS Racing seeking one as well for their #94 Chevrolet, which is set to be driven by Ty Dillon, the decisions of Rick Ware Racing (and possibly Richard Petty Motorsports) could go a long way in determining where the remaining puzzle pieces will fit in the driver lineup next year.
