Formula 1: The return we’ve all really been waiting for
By Asher Fair
There has been lots of talk about seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton’s return, but another Hamilton has just returned as well.
After a hiatus of nearly two months following his heartbreaking and controversial defeat to Max Verstappen in the 2021 Formula 1 season finale in Abu Dhabi, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton returned to social media two weekends ago.
It has since been confirmed that the 103-time race winner will be returning to Formula 1 for the 2022 season, despite rumors that he may walk away from the sport given how the 2021 title battle ended.
Over the summer, the 37-year-old Briton did sign a two-year extension with Mercedes to continue driving for the team through the 2023 season, so there was always somewhat of an underlying feeling that he would be back and simply needed some time away after what happened back in mid-December.
And also making a return to social media in recent days was Roscoe Hamilton.
Roscoe is Lewis’s nine-year-old dog who has become somewhat of a legend in his own right over the years. The bulldog, who has amassed more than 400,000 followers on Instagram, is described as a “vegan bulldog that loves to travel, play ball and get attention from all the girls, especially when they rub my [sic] bum.”
A new picture of Roscoe was added to his account just two days ago, featuring the dog with a tennis ball in his mouth and captioned with the line, “Hi guys, I’s backs”.
Prior to that picture, the most recent of his nearly 300 Instagram posts featured him and his canine pals all dressed up for Halloween, captioned with the line “I’s loves tricks ors treats. Mostlys treats. Happy Halloweens”.
All in all, it seems as though it is safe to say that Roscoe has gotten over the disappointment of Abu Dhabi as well.
As for “Dads”, Lewis is set to make his official return to Formula 1 in the 2022 season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix at Bahrain International Circuit on Sunday, March 20. But first, he is set to partake in preseason testing at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya from Tuesday, February 23 to Thursday, February 25 and then at Bahrain International Circuit from Thursday, March 10 to Saturday, March 12.
