Danica Patrick was in the Fox booth for last Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Who is set to replace her?

Fox continued their recent trend of switching up the third seat in the broadcast booth for last Sunday afternoon’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

This was their plan for the 2022 season following the departure of four-time Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon after six seasons alongside lead announcer Mike Joy, and it made the booth different for the fourth straight year.

Three-time Cup Series champion Darrell Waltrip retired from his broadcasting duties after the 2019 season, but he was not replaced alongside Joy and Gordon in 2020. However, in 2021, Fox brought on Clint Bowyer, who retired from driving after the 2020 season, to join the pair.

Following Gordon’s departure, they committed to having a number of drivers in the third seat in 2022 until they turn the broadcasting duties over to NBC in June.

Three-time Cup Series champion Tony Stewart led things off for the Busch Light Clash exhibition race at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, and he stayed on for the official season-opening Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway. But after that, it was 2003 champion Matt Kenseth who took over for the race at Auto Club Speedway.

Kenseth’s stint in the booth lasted only one race, as it was Danica Patrick who joined Joy and former Stewart-Haas Racing teammate Clint Bowyer for last Sunday’s race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

But like Stewart and unlike Kenseth, she is set to stay on for a second race weekend. She is also set to be in the booth with Joy and Bowyer for this Sunday afternoon’s race at Phoenix Raceway. The Ruoff Mortgage 500 is set to be broadcast live on Fox beginning at 3:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, March 13.

It still hasn’t been revealed who will be in the booth beyond this Sunday, however. There is still an open seat for next weekend’s Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. That race is set to be broadcast live on Fox beginning at 3:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, March 20.
