After Danica Patrick spent the last two NASCAR Cup Series races in the Fox booth at Las Vegas and Phoenix, who is slated to be her replacement?

For the second time in the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season, Danica Patrick was in the Fox booth alongside lead announcer Mike Joy and color commentator Clint Bowyer for this past Sunday afternoon’s Ruoff Mortgage 500 at Phoenix Raceway.

Patrick was also in the booth alongside the regular duo in the Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway two Sundays ago.

However, her two-race stint in the booth is up, and she is set to be replaced for this coming Sunday afternoon’s Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Her replacement has been confirmed as Jeff Gordon, who is set to become the fourth individual to join Joy and Bowyer in the booth this season.

Fox opted not to commit to a single third announcer in the booth following the departure of Gordon himself, who left after his sixth season as a full-time analyst in 2021.

After the 2019 season, three-time champion Darrell Waltrip retired, leaving only Joy and Gordon in 2020. Bowyer joined them in 2021 after retiring from Cup Series competition.

So with the four-time Cup Series champion’s departure after 2021, the booth was always set to look different for a fourth straight year, and Fox opted to switch things up, using a number of drivers in the third seat.

Three-time champion Tony Stewart opened up the 2022 season in the booth alongside Joy and Bowyer for the unofficial season-opening Busch Light Clash exhibition race at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, and he also joined them for the official season-opening Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway.

Then at Auto Club Speedway, it was 2003 series champion Matt Kenseth who replaced Stewart. But unlike Stewart, he only spent one race in the booth prior to Patrick taking over for her two races.

With four regular season races down, Fox and Fox Sports 1 are set to broadcast the next 12 points-paying races on the schedule, as well as the All-Star Race at Texas Motor Speedway. Their final race of the year is scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 12 at Sonoma Raceway.

The lone off weekend of the 2022 season is scheduled for the following weekend, and then on Sunday, June 26, NBC is set to take over at Nashville Superspeedway. NBC and NBC Sports Network are set to broadcast each of the regular season’s final 10 races and each of the 10 playoff races.
