Keep tabs on Saturday afternoon’s qualifying session for Sunday afternoon’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Pocono Raceway, the M&M’s Fan Appreciation 400.

For the first time since the 1981 NASCAR Cup Series season, Pocono Raceway is only scheduled to host one race in 2022, and that race, the M&M’s Fan Appreciation 400, is scheduled to take place this Sunday afternoon.

For the first time since 2019, qualifying is scheduled to take place at the three-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometeR) Tricky Triangle in Long Pond, Pennsylvania. Qualifying was canceled for most races in 2020 and 2021, and that was the case for both races at the track in both seasons. The track hosted a doubleheader both years.

The qualifying format introduced for 2022 is set to be used this weekend, with drivers split up into two groups based on the results of the most recent race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The qualifying order is determined by the qualifying formula.

This qualifying session is a single-car session, and each driver makes a single-lap qualifying attempt. The fastest five drivers in each group advance to the second round for another single-lap qualifying attempt to set the top 10 in the starting lineup. The rest of the starting lineup is set based on speeds from the first round, irrespective of group.

Follow along with our live qualifying updates for the 2022 M&M’s Fan Appreciation 400.
