Keep tabs on Friday afternoon’s qualifying session for Saturday night’s IndyCar race at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway.

IndyCar is set for its fifth and final oval race of the 2022 season this Saturday night at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway.

This race, the Bommarito Automotive Group 500, is scheduled to be a 260-lap race around the four-turn, 1.25-mile (2.012-kilometer) Madison, Illinois oval. It is the 15th of 17 races on the schedule.

Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden, the only driver with more than one win at the track, enters the weekend as the two-time reigning race winner. He has three victories at the venue, having won in 2017, 2020, and 2021.

The qualifying format for this race is the same as the format used for the season’s first oval race at Texas Motor Speedway back in March. The session is a single-car session, and the qualifying order is determined by entrant points. Each driver makes a two-lap attempt, and the average speed over that two-lap run is used to determine the starting lineup.
