Possible Nyck de Vries 2023 landing spots: No. 3 – Alpine

Hey, everyone else has been linked to Alpine. Why not let Nyck de Vries have a shot? The void left by the Aston Martin-bound Fernando Alonso has yet to be filled, and de Vries may be the top free agent on the driver market.

There has already been some interest shown by the French team, as they plan on bringing de Vries in for a test before the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix. However, he will have some unwanted company, as the aforementioned Herta and Formula 2 driver Jack Doohan have also been rumored to participate in a test with Alpine.

The thought of de Vries in a competitive car could be a dream scenario for Alpine. It could also be a headache for McLaren, who are locked in a battle with Alpine for fourth place. McLaren swiped prized prospect Oscar Piastri from Alpine this summer, setting off one of the most dramatic silly season periods in recent Formula 1 memory.

In de Vries, Alpine could get a young prospect who already has experience racing in Formula 1. The Dutchman could be a key factor in the rivalry with McLaren, especially if next year’s McLaren car struggles to keep pace with the top three teams.

Should de Vries don the blue and pink next year, the competition against Piastri could become one of the most entertaining driver rivalries in the sport.
