NASCAR: Kevin Harvick to make ‘big announcement’
By Asher Fair
NASCAR Cup Series points leader Kevin Harvick is set to make a “big announcement” on Thursday evening on NASCAR Race Hub.
Stewart-Haas Racing’s Kevin Harvick found himself inheriting the NASCAR Cup Series points lead on Wednesday to become the sport’s third points leader in four days after Hendrick Motorsports’ Alex Bowman, along with teammates William Byron and Kyle Larson, were handed 100-point penalties.
The 47-year-old Harvick now sits atop the point standings for the first time since 2020, despite the fact that it has been a struggle for Stewart-Haas Racing this year.
Before the Hendrick Motorsports penalties, none of their other drivers were higher than 25th place, yet Harvick’s worst finish through four races this year is 12th.
Now Kevin Harvick is set to make a “big announcement” on NASCAR Race Hub on Thursday evening.
The Bakersfield, California native already announced before the season began that his 23rd season in the Cup Series and 10th season with Stewart-Haas Racing behind the wheel of the No. 4 car would be his last, confirming his plans to retire at the end of the year.
He later confirmed a move to the Fox Sports broadcast booth for the 2024 Cup Series season, which was expected after Fox opted to continue using various guest analysts, instead of committing to someone else full-time, for their third seat alongside lead announcer Mike Joy and full-time analyst Clint Bowyer, a former Stewart-Haas Racing teammate of Harvick.
Harvick’s experience calling Xfinity Series and Truck Series races led many to believe that he would pursue an announcing career after his driving career concluded, and that is indeed what he is set to do.
As for what his “big announcement” relates to this evening, we’ll just have to wait and see.
Be sure to tune in to NASCAR Race Hub on Fox Sports 1 tonight at 6:00 p.m. ET so you don’t miss Harvick’s “big announcement”. If you haven’t already done so, start a free trial of FuboTV now!
