Brad Keselowski recently discussed the fact that the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season has been far more of a success than the 2022 season, his first year as co-owner of the newly branded RFK Racing, was. But he also brought up the fact that he knows he is far from safe in the playoff picture.

Keselowski sits in 12th place in the point standings, 96 points above the cut line, but he is the fourth highest of six non-winners currently in a provisional playoff spot, making him effectively the 14th driver in the playoff standings.

With 10 races remaining on the regular season schedule, there are almost sure to be more drivers finding victory lane who haven’t yet done so.

Whether or not Keselowski, whose best finish of the season is a second place finish at Atlanta Motor Speedway, is one of those new winners could be the difference in him getting back to the playoffs for the first time since 2021 or missing out for the second year in a row.

The playoff cut line is all but guaranteed to move up if more winners emerge, meaning that Keselowski may need to end a win drought of over two years to return to the postseason.

Nevertheless, Keselowski is running well on a far more regular basis this year than he did last year. Last season at this time, he had two top 10 finishes, the better of which was a ninth place effort. This year, he has finished higher than ninth on five occasions already.
