2014 was not the season that Tony Stewart or his fans might have pictured. However, in the end Stewart seemed happy as he celebrated a NASCAR championship as an owner as opposed to a driver. Prior to the race in Miami Stewart took some time to reflect on his Sprint Cup streak as well as his professional winning streak. Stewart also addressed whether or not he thought there would be a change in crew chief for his No. 14 team heading into next season.

More from NASCAR

Prior to taking the green flag on Sunday Stewart spent some time speaking to the Associated Press. Had Stewart won in Miami it would have been his 16th consecutive NASCAR season with at least one victory. That would have kept him on pace to match the record which is 18 consecutive seasons with a win which is held by Richard Petty. While speaking with the AP, Stewart shared his thoughts on the streak.

"All streaks come to an end at some point. The streak is important to me, and this year, I still won a sprint car race when I came back. So I’ve had 36 straight years of at least winning a race. I was proud to have 15 years in a row that I won a race in the Cup Series. I’ll be sad if it stops and it ends, but that’s part of it."

Stewart also took a moment to talk about the rumors that he will have a new crew chief come 2015.

"I really like working with Chad, and it’s been frustrating for him, too. If there’s any fans who don’t think he is mad and frustrated, they are fooling themselves. He wants it so bad, but we’ve tried so many different things, I honestly feel it’s the package that’s the hang-up. I don’t feel like I need a different crew chief next year. I am very comfortable with who I have.Chad and I are — probably of all the crew chiefs I’ve had — personality-wise, we are probably the best fit in all reality. We have the same level of intensity but also the same level of quick wit, sarcasm; it’s like we might be related to one another."

The fact that Stewart has won a race on some level for 36 consecutive years is impressive. The one that is clear when it comes to Stewart is that he has an incredible passion for racing. That passion has been evident throughout his NASCAR career as he has raced every moment that he possibly could and at every local track that he could fit into his schedule. As far as 2015 goes, it’s going to be a rebound year for the No. 14 team. SHR showed in 2014 that they can win and produce a champion, one would have to imagine that Stewart is going to be right in the thick of things come 2015.
