Who will be the person who will kissing the yard of bricks at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Sunday afternoon? This week’s edition of NASCAR Beat The Experts will showcase the staff picks for the Brickyard 400. Remember, if you want to play along and have the chance to beat us all you have to do is submit your pick to one of our social media pages.

If a reader is able to beat the experts this weekend we will be inviting that reader to join us on the Beyond The Flag Post-Race Podcast to talk NASCAR.

Let’s see if you agree with our Beyond The Flag writers on who they are picking.

Cole Mentzel — My pick is going to be Jimmie Johnson. He has 4 wins this season and 4 wins at Indy plus he’s had a few rough weeks lately and is due for another finish at the top. He has the experience to get it done at a tricky track like Indy so I believe he will make it to Victory Lane on Sunday!

Mike Hutton — As much as I don’t want to pick him, I will not argue against Jimmie Johnson. They clearly seem to have this track figured out in recent years. Also, each time that they’ve had an issue early in practice, as they did today, they seem to rally. They were P4 in final practice.

Christopher Olmstead — I’m going with Jeff Gordon. Gordon has won this event five times in his career and if he can do it for a sixth time he will make history. No driver in all of Motorsports have ever won more than five première events at Indy. Gordon will not only be chasing that Sunday but he will also continue his quest to join the 25,000 laps led club.

Claire Monacelli Steen — I have to go with Smoke this weekend. He has finished within the top 10 in five of the past six times racing here. Tony loves this track. He has won here twice and I feel like with the right set up he can start to turn around his season.

More from NASCAR

Joseph Shelton — Going to go with Kurt Busch Sunday. He was the fastest in practice, and has shown a lot of speed on the bigger tracks this season.

Zach Roethlisberger — Kevin Harvick- Dale Earnhardt Jr. talked during practice yesterday about how stout the four car looked in practice. Harvick has won at Indianapolis before and has been the class of the field all year. Chevrolet has dominated Indianapolis lately and the talk in the garage is Harvick has the best Chevrolet here this weekend.

Clayton Caldwell — Ryan Blaney I think they’re fast and eventually their luck will turn and they’ll get a top 10

John Harlow — Kyle Busch. He won the first race in the COT, He won the first race with the Kentucky package and I have the feeling he will win with the High Drag package.
