USA Today Sports

Remember your first race?

That moment when the sheer sound of speed is enough to make you start shaking with both excitement and fear as you approach the grandstands. What about the vibrations sent up into the stands the first time you saw 43 cars speed past you at over 180 miles per hour? Or even the first time you heard the words, start your engines, blare across the tracks PA system.

While im sure we all have found memories of going to races and seeing the driver we love compete against 42 cars for a chance at glory at the end of the day, one Childs first race was so special that i doubt it will be ever be forgotten. In fact, it might be something that this young fan tells his kids about one day!

But what could make one particular race so special? Was it watching the speeds that the 43 car field was accelerating to? Was it seeing a big wreck break out for the first time? Or could it even have been seeing his favorite driver in Victory lane after a dominant race?

While all those things are certainly what NASCAR a wonderful experience for all that partake in it, that wasn’t what made this particular experience so special for the young boy. In fact, what made the experience so memorable for the young boy named , Braxton, was a fan who helped him and his mother out in a time of need.

It all happened a week ago in Darlington South Carolina. a young boy by the name of Braxton was enjoying a race with his mother under the lights. As the race went on, Braxton began to get a little antsy. According to the young boy’s mother, this was due to his ADHD and the only thing that would help would be to direct his focus elsewhere besides his nervousness.

That where a nice man by the name of John stepped in and offered young Braxton his headset to help redirect his focus and tune into what the drivers were saying during the race. Braxton’s mother even reported that John was nice enough to answer all of little Braxton’s questions about the race NASCAR in general.

While this might all seem like such a small gesture, it definitely touched Braxton’s mother’s heart in a way that few could imagine. She even posted a photo of John and her son on multiple Facebook groups in order to thank the man for what he did for her son.

With all the infighting and arguing that goes on amongst NASCAR fans on a weekly basis, its nice to actually see a NASCAR fan go out of their way to help another fan in need. It also helps to shed the stereotype that NASCAR fans are a bunch of drunk and belligerent rednecks as well. In fact, whether the outside world want to admit it or not, NASCAR fans are some of the nicest people you will see in the sports world today.
