NASCAR Buy or Sell: Will Brad Keselowski Stay with Penske?
Brad Keselowski is one of NASCAR’s biggest free agents after the 2017 season. Will Team Penske do what it needs to keep the 2012 champion behind the wheel of the No. 2 Ford Fusion?
NASCAR‘s silly season is in full swing, and Brad Keselowski’s future with Team Penske is a hot topic. Keselowski’s contract is up following the 2017 season. As of now, there have been no reports of a new contract keeping Roger Penske and the 2012 champion together. However, one would have to believe that the two sides are working towards a deal for the future. Will they be able to work something out before the season is up?
Brad Keselowski will sign a new contract with Team Penske: BUY
This would seem like an obvious conclusion in most cases. This silly season is different. The sport’s biggest star is retiring and it is not yet clear who will take over his iconic No. 88 Chevrolet. Naturally, many wonder if Keselowski could fill in for one of his mentors, Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Keselowski broke out as a driver during his time at JR Motorsports, so the ties to Hendrick Motorsports are there. But Keselowski’s move to Team Penske was brought on due to a full Cup Series lineup at HMS.

Since Penske signed Keselowski, they have both gone on to win their first series championships in the XFINITY Series and Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. Ever since the 2012 championship, Keselowski has been knocking on the door of his second Cup Series title, including this season in which he has two victories and is locked into the playoffs.
The growth of Brad Keselowski Racing in the Trucks Series also links Keselowski and Penske together. BKR currently fields two Trucks Series teams. Those teams are very important to Keselowski. Penske’s support for BKR should help keep Keselowski in the No. 2 for the long haul.
Long story short, Brad loves driving for the Captain, Roger Penske. He has a great thing going with Miller Lite as the primary sponsor (assuming they will be staying around as a staple on the No. 2) and the rest of his sponsors are getting their bang for their buck as he continues to excel. The two sides should come to an agreement before this season concludes and look towards trying to win more championships together at the top-level of the sport.
