Team Penske’s Will Power claimed his third victory of the 2017 season and in an impressive come-from-behind effort at Pocono.
Team Penske’s Will Power joined teammate Josef Newgarden as the only drivers who have won three races through 14 IndyCar races so far this season. He did so with an impressive come-from-behind victory in the ABC Supply 500 at the 2.5-mile triangle-shaped Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania. He went a lap down with an issue early on, but he rallied back to take the checkered flag at Pocono for the second consecutive season.
Newgarden finished in 2nd place and Alexander Rossi, the highest-finishing Honda driver, finished in 3rd place. Power held off Newgarden by 0.5268 seconds to take the victory. The win was his 32nd career IndyCar victory, giving him sole possession of 9th place on the all-time list. Newgarden’s lead in the championship standings, however, grew as a result of his third straight top 2 finish dating back to the Toronto race.
Other Notable Statistics
