To help those in need of shelter during Hurricane Irma, NASCAR tracks Atlanta Motor Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway performed kind gestures.
As Hurricane Irma prepares to make its destructive path up the East Coast of Florida, people who will likely be affected by the storm are taking action to move out of its way. Thanks to kind gestures by two of NASCAR‘s tracks, the evacuees will now have safe places to go during the storm.
Atlanta Motor Speedway was the first of two tracks to perform this kind gesture, as it announced yesterday that it would be opening up its camping faculties to Hurricane Irma evacuees starting today.
The speedway announced that both its RV and camping grounds would be open to shelter those evacuees today, as the track is equipped to handle thousands of people on those grounds during its race weekend, which took place in early March this season.

"“Atlanta Motor Speedway will open its camping facilities free of charge to evacuees seeking temporary refuge from the approaching Hurricane Irma. The Speedway, which is equipped to handle thousands of campers during its annual NASCAR weekend, will open both RV and tent campgrounds to any interested evacuees beginning tomorrow, Sept. 7.”"
Later yesterday, Talladega Superspeedway made the same announcement, opening up its campgrounds as well as hot shower and restroom facilities to Hurricane Irma evacuees so they can have a safe place to stay until the storm passes.

As you can see from Talladega Superspeedway’s Tweet, they acknowledged what Atlanta Motor Speedway did before making their announcement that they would be doing the same. Could we see more sporting facilities such as NASCAR tracks do the same for the Hurricane Irma evacuees?
