Tyler Reddick earned his first career NASCAR Xfinity Series victory on Saturday night at Kentucky Speedway with Chip Ganassi Racing in the #42 Chevy.

The second race of the season for the NASCAR Xfinity Series at Kentucky Speedway marks the final standalone race of the 2017 season. This was also the final time the track would host a standalone race for the series, as that race date is set to be moved to Las Vegas in 2018. Many thought that the playoff opener for the second division would be won by a non-playoff driver, and indeed it was. Tyler Reddick took his first career Xfinity Series victory at Kentucky.

Reddick, driving the #42 Chevy for Chip Ganassi Racing, had the widest margin of victory in an Xfinity Series race at Kentucky Speedway on Saturday night, winning by more than 14 seconds. Teammate Brennan Poole came home in second, earning the CGR team a 1-2 finish. Justin Allgaier, Ryan Preece, and Cole Custer would round out the top five.

While Reddick dominated the final quarter of the race at Kentucky, many other young guns took their turns at the front as well. Polesitter Kyle Benjamin led the most laps on the night, leading the early stretch of the race. Then it became the Cole Custer show, as the driver of the #00 Ford would win both Stage 1 and 2 of the VisitMyrtleBeach.com 300. Ryan Preece, in his final start with Joe Gibbs Racing for 2017, also had some time in the lead.

More from NASCAR

The race for the top of the playoff grid in the Round of 12 was between the drivers of JR Motorsports and Cole Custer. William Byron, Justin Allgaier, and Elliott Sadler entered the playoffs as three of the favorites to advance to the championship four in Homestead, but perhaps after his run at Kentucky Cole Custer has joined them. The bottom four in the championship hunt heading out of the Bluegrass State are Brendan Gaughan, Blake Koch, Michael Annett, and Jeremy Clements.
