In the third playoff race of the 2017 NASCAR Cup Series season, Martin Truex Jr. will start from the pole position in Dover.

For just the second time in 29 races so far this 2017 NASCAR Cup Series season, Martin Truex Jr., who has dominated in pretty much every race category in 2017 from wins to standings, stage points and playoff points, will start from the pole position.

He will do so for the Apache Warrior 400 presented by Lucas Oil at Dover International Speedway in Dover, Delaware on Sunday afternoon. That race is the third playoff race of the season. Truex Jr. has already secured himself a spot in the Round of 12 with his win in the first playoff race of the season at Chicagoland.

Truex Jr.’s other pole position start this season came in the regular season race at New Hampshire. He finished in 3rd place in that race. None of his five wins so far this season have come after he started from the pole position.
