NASCAR: Bank of America 500 qualifying results – Denny Hamlin on pole

In the fourth playoff race of the 2017 NASCAR Cup Series season and the first race of the Round of 12, Denny Hamlin will start on pole at Charlotte.

For the first time in 30 races so far this 2017 NASCAR Cup Series season, Denny Hamlin will start from the pole position for Sunday’s Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The Bank of America 500 is the 30th of 36 races this Cup Series season, the fourth of 10 playoff races and the first of three Round of 12 races. Hamlin currently sits in 7th place in the championship standings as the Round of 12 begins.

Hamlin has won two races so far this season, both in the regular season. He won Joe Gibbs Racing’s first race of the season at New Hampshire before winning at Darlington in the penultimate race of the regular season after recovering from missing the pit lane late in the race..

Ever since Hamlin’s win at New Hampshire, the Joe Gibbs Racing team has been scorching hot, winning five of the 11 races that have followed, including the last two at New Hampshire and Dover with Kyle Busch, who has become the co-favorite along with Martin Truex Jr. to win this season’s championship.
