Formula One: Sebastian Vettel has no plan to retire anytime soon
By Asher Fair
Scuderia Ferrari’s four-time Formula One champion Sebastian Vettel has no plan to retire from the sport anytime soon.
Scuderia Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel, a four-time Formula One champion who turned 30 years old this past summer, has no plans to retire from driving in the world’s top racing series anytime soon. He just completed his 10th season of full-time competition this past season and his third driving for Ferrari.
With his four career Formula One championships, Vettel sits in a 3rd place tie on the all-time titles list with Alain Prost and Lewis Hamilton, a 32-year-old who also still competes in the sport. He sits behind only seven-time champion Michael Schumacher and five-time champion Juan Manuel Fangio on that list.
Vettel won the four championships he has won so far in his Formula One career all in a row from the 2010 to the 2013 seasons, his third through sixth full-time seasons in the sport. At age 23, he became the youngest driver to win a title.

At age 24, Vettel became the youngest driver to win two titles. At age 25, he became the youngest driver to win three titles, and at age 26, he became the youngest driver to win four titles. In fact, only one other driver had ever won more than one title by the age of 26 years and 117 days, the age at which Vettel won his fourth title, and that driver was Fernando Alonso, who had two titles to his name at that age.
With his 47 career Formula One victories, Vettel sits in 4th place on the all-time wins list. He trails only Michael Schumacher, who won 91 races, Lewis Hamilton, who has won 62 races, and Alain Prost who won 51 races. He should be able to crack the top three on that list by next season, as he sits just four below Prost as of now.
Here is what Vettel had to say about having no concrete retirement plans, according to PlanetF1.com.
"“There is no concrete answer. The moment in which I no longer have fun (is when I will leave). That’s because there are many drivers who would still be having fun and would need a seat.”"

For how many more seasons will Sebastian Vettel compete in Formula One? Seeing as how he still has what it takes to win races and he hasn’t finished outside of the drivers standings in his last nine seasons, the 30-year-old could be sticking around for awhile, meaning he will likely continue to move up the all-time lists in various categories.
