By Asher Fair
NASCAR have officially announced the pit road and caution vehicle speed limits for each track on the schedules of the three top series in the 2018 season.
The release of the speed limits on pit road and for caution vehicles across NASCAR‘s top three series, the Cup Series, Xfinity Series and Truck Series, in the 2018 season was officially made on Wednesday.
There were no changes to any of these speed limits among the tracks that were previously on the schedules of NASCAR’s top three series in the 2017 season.
In terms of additional tracks coming to any of NASCAR’s top three series in the 2018 season, there is one new track on the schedules of both the Cup Series and the Xfinity Series. That track is the road course at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The 18-turn, 2.4-mile Charlotte Motor Speedway road course will host a playoff race for both the Cup Series and the Xfinity Series in the 2018 season. Previously, the Charlotte Motor Speedway oval had hosted the race.
According to NASCAR.com, there is some leeway when it comes to these speed limits, however. Drivers are allowed to five miles per hour over these speed limits at most. Nothing beyond that is permitted.

How many penalties will we see issued to drivers who do not adhere to the pit road speed limits across NASCAR’s top three series in the 2018 season? With everyone doing everything they can possibly do just to gain fractions of a second, we may see drivers going over these limits, and thus we may see these penalties issued quite frequently like usual.
