South Point Hotel and Casino will return to Richard Childress Racing to sponsor Daniel Hemric in all 33 NASCAR Xfinity Series races in 2018.

Heading into the 2017 NASCAR offseason, many feared that longtime sponsor South Point Hotel and Casino would become like so many other sponsors of late that are fleeing the sport. With their number one driver Brendan Gaughan, son of the owner of the casino, no longer racing full-time in the Xfinity Series, what reason would they have to stay? But to delight many just before the Christmas holiday, the Gaughan family announced they will be sticking around for 2018 after all.

South Point Hotel and Casino will remain in the Xfinity Series in 2018 with Richard Childress Racing, sponsoring the #21 Chevrolet of Daniel Hemric in all 33 races. The announcement was made jointly by RCR and the Gaughan family, extending a relationship that began back in 2012.

Richard Childress is excited to see that South Point will be remaining with his team for at least another year, according to ESPN:

"RCR and the Gaughan Family have had a special relationship that we’re thrilled to be able to continue. As with RCR, the South Point Hotel and Casino has a rich history in stock car racing and it is a part of our heritage. Daniel made it to the XFINITY Series Championship 4 this past season and we look forward to another season of watching him compete for the championship."

Michael Gaughan, owner of the South Point Hotel and Casino, had this to say about extending their deal, according to ESPN:

More from NASCAR

"The South Point Hotel & Casino is excited to be continuing our partnership with Richard Childress Racing in the 2018 season. Watching Brendan carry our colors these past couple of years on the track and into Victory Lane has been a lot fun. We’re looking forward to continuing the accomplishments during this coming season with Daniel Hemric. Daniel is a great driver and we know he will represent the South Point well both on and off the track."

The move will give Daniel Hemric solid sponsorship heading into his sophomore year in the Xfinity Series. Hemric made it all the way to the Championship 4 in his rookie year at RCR, despite not having won a race during the 2017 campaign. He will look to change his luck with a more lean Childress team in 2018, which will cut back from five cars to just three.
