IndyCar: 2018 Indianapolis 500 one-off driver possibilities

Of course, there are some other drivers who could be possibilities, including Jay Howard, who finished 33rd in 2017. Two other names to drop would be veterans Oriol Servia and Sebastian Saavedra, as they seem to always be able to find funding.

Looking for a true dark horse? How about RC Enerson? The 20-year-old Floridian was impressive driving three races for Dale Coyne Racing in 2016. He showed he was quick and posted a 9th place finish at Watkins Glen.

His last two seasons were overshadowed by a lawsuit filed by Schmidt Peterson Motorsports over his Indy Lights participation in 2016. According to Racer.com, that lawsuit was settled Wednesday. Now that it’s over, his options are wide open. If he isn’t in the field in 2018, consider 2019 a lock.
