NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Austin Cindric will compete in the prototype class in the Rolex 24 at Daytona in January with JDC-Miller Motorsports.

The list of drivers from around the world converging on Daytona International Speedway in January continues to grow. The Rolex 24 at Daytona for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship has already drawn the attention of stars from NASCAR, IndyCar, Formula One, and Formula E. Add Austin Cindric to that list of drivers for the around-the-clock event, one of three drivers confirmed at JDC-Miller Motorsports on Friday.

Cindric, who will drive the #85 ORECA 07-Gibson in the 2018 edition of the race, will be joined by Devlin DeFrancesco, Simon Trummer, and Robert Alon in the car. The son of Team Penske president Tim Cindric, Austin is no stranger to sports car racing. He joined the factory Lexus squad for the 2017 endurance races at Daytona, Sebring, and Road Atlanta.

The driver of the #60 Ford in the NASCAR Xfinity Series had this to say about his ride in the Rolex 24 at Daytona, according to Racer.com:

"It is no secret JDC-Miller Motorsports surprised a lot of people this year, showing that this group is more than capable of fighting with the big dogs. It will be my first race in a prototype, so I have plenty to learn and absorb from my teammates. It is an exciting time in IMSA to be in a prototype, racing for an overall win, and I’m grateful to be part of it."

After racing in the Camping World Truck Series in 2017 with Brad Keselowski Racing full-time, Cindric will move into the NASCAR Xfinity Series on a part-time basis in 2018. He will share the #60 Ford with fellow Ford Performance development drivers Ty Majeski and Chase Briscoe throughout the season, with support from Roush-Fenway Racing and Team Penske.

This will not be the only ride they share, however. The Xfinity Series trio will be joined by Stewart-Haas Racing’s Cole Custer in sharing a Ford Mustang in the season opener for the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge at Daytona in January. Out of these four, Cindric is the only one to confirm a drive in the Rolex 24 later that same weekend.

JDC-Miller Motorsports looks to continue their success in their sophomore campaign with two ORECA 07-Gibson entries. The #85 car will feature the familiar bright yellow colors of the team, while the #99 entry will welcome a new partner in GAINSCO Insurance. The company previously fielded their own entries for Jon Fogarty and Alex Gurney in both IMSA’s forerunner Grand-Am and the Pirelli World Challenge.
