There will be one less fantasy game for NASCAR fans to enjoy in 2018. Yahoo Sports has ended their Fantasy Auto Racing game.

The growth of fantasy sports in the last decade may have finally popped with the rise of daily fantasy sports giants FanDuel and DraftKings.

However, other outlets like ESPN, Yahoo Sports, and individual sports leagues have provided plenty of options for fans to continue playing fantasy sports, from football to auto racing. NASCAR fans will have one less option in that regard in 2018, with Yahoo Sports shutting down their Fantasy Auto Racing game.

As first reported by Jeff Gluck on Twitter, the fantasy sports game that allowed players to draft their own NASCAR dream team for a season will be no more in 2018. This is not to say that fans will not have other options, however. NASCAR.com continues to offer a similar fantasy game on their website.

Yahoo Sports Fantasy Auto Racing was quite popular with fans, but perhaps the writing has been on the wall for a bit now. The site’s coverage of the sport has mostly become an aggregate of articles from various other sites, including NBC Sports, MRN, Autoweek, and others. Nick Bromberg is currently their only staff writer to consistently produce content on NASCAR.

More from NASCAR

Overall, the fantasy site provided a great outlet for fans to connect and build their team how they wanted to. However, Yahoo’s commitment to the sport has clearly waned. Their role with auto racing peaked when in the early 2000s when the website’s logos appeared on NASCAR and IndyCar entries on one-off occasions. Today, much of their video content is outdated on the fantasy webpage, dating back now to 2012.

For fans who are looking for a new outlet to try out fantasy NASCAR in 2018, there are some sites that will continue to offer games. Beyond the NASCAR.com website, DraftKings continues to offer weekly stock car racing contests where you can select your team. However, other organizations like Fox Sports, ESPN, and now Yahoo Sports have stepped away.
