Zachary Claman DeMelo’s test with IndyCar team Dale Coyne Racing at Sebring International Raceway has been rescheduled for Wednesday.

Zachary Claman DeMelo, 19, was supposed to test drive the #19 Honda for Dale Coyne Racing on Wednesday, January 10th at Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, Florida in an attempt to land a ride with the team for the 2018 IndyCar season. However, that test did not end up happening.

Claman DeMelo’s drug test results were not received in time, and this clearance issue prevented him from being allowed to test when he was initially scheduled to test, which was just days after he signed with driver manager Stefan Johansson. As a results, the test was to be scheduled.

Given the fact that he did not fail his drug test, it was only a matter of time before the date on which the test was to be rescheduled was set. Now it has been set, and it has been set for this Wednesday, January 24th at the same track.

Claman DeMelo announced that he would be testing on Wednesday for Dale Coyne Racing on his Instagram account.

Claman DeMelo is among the front-runners to land a ride with Dale Coyne Racing in the #19 Honda that was driven by Ed Jones in his rookie season in 2017 before he departed for Chip Ganassi Racing this offseason to take over the full-time driving duties of the #10 Honda from Tony Kanaan, who is set to replace Carlos Munoz as the full-time driver of the #14 Chevrolet for A.J. Foyt Enterprises. Jack Hawksworth, who drove full-time in IndyCar from the 2014 to the 2016 season, is another driver with a shot at earning time in the #19 Honda this season.

However, it may come down to multiple drivers splitting time in the car. These two drivers simply look like the most likely candidates to earn at least part-time rides with the team in the 2018 season at this point, although they are certainly not the only two drivers being considered.

Claman DeMelo’s IndyCar career currently consists of one race, which was the 2017 season finale at Sonoma Raceway. He drove for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing and finished in 17th place after starting in 21st in that race. He has driven in Indy Lights as a full-time driver for two seasons. In fact, earned his first career victory in the series at Road America this past season driving for Carlin Motorsport en route to a career-high 5th place finish in the championship standings.
