NASCAR Cup Series driver Kurt Busch believes that fellow driver Chase Elliott is the most overrated driver in the sport right now.

Just a few days ago, Chase Elliott, 22, made clear that his plan was to stand up for himself in the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season should any instances arise similar to his feud with Denny Hamlin toward the end of the 2017 season.

Now even before the 2018 season has started, Elliott is already under attack.

Kurt Busch, 39, was recently asked who he believed is the most overrated driver currently driving in the Cup Series. This question was asked during an interview in which Busch voiced his support for his brother Kyle’s recent remarks about how he feels it is unfair that NASCAR uses their younger drivers in their marketing campaigns more often than the veterans.

Busch said that the most overrated driver in the Cup Series today would have to be Chase Elliott, who is one of the young, up-and-coming drivers of the sport that NASCAR has marketed quite frequently throughout his first two seasons as a full-time driver in the sport.

Elliott has driven in the sport for two seasons as a full-time driver, but he has not yet won a race despite leading late on several occasions, particularly in the 2017 playoffs when he lost the late lead in three separate races. Here is what Busch had to say when specifically asked about the matter, according to Motorsport.com.

"“That’s a touchy subject. I think that is what my little brother Kyle was referring to. It’s cute – there are different ‘chosen ones’ or guys that take over iconic rides. But right now Bill Elliott’s son, who is going to be a big-time player in our sport and has yet to win, is Chase Elliott.“He’s doing a good job; it’s all starting to blend in and I’d say he’s just slightly overrated right now without the race wins that he should have in the win column.”"

Is Kurt Busch right? Is Chase Elliott, who has yet to win a race in more than two full seasons of driving in the NASCAR Cup Series, overrated, and if so, is he the most overrated driver who is currently in the sport? We should get a better look at whether or not Busch’s remarks are accurate this season, which is set to begin on Sunday, February 18th with the 60th annual Daytona 500.
