Team Penske’s Brad Keselowski won Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Advance Auto Parts Clash at Daytona after starting the race in last place.

After starting in 17th place out of 17 drivers in the NASCAR Cup Series Advance Auto Part Clash exhibition race at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, Brad Keselowski drove the #2 Team Penske Ford to Victory Lane.

Keselowski’s teammates Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney finished the race in 2nd and 4th place, respectively, while Stewart-Haas Racing’s Kurt Busch broke up a potential Team Penske 1-2-3 sweep by finishing in 3rd in his #41 Ford. Ford drivers swept the top four spots in the finishing order.

It did not take long for Keselowski to get to the front of the field, as he was the leader following his pit stop during the competition caution that came out after the 25th lap of the race. He took a gamble and went with just two tires during that stop, and that gamble paid off, as he led the majority of the remainder of the race.

The 75-lap race featured 11 lead changes among seven of the race’s 17 drivers. Keselowski led a field-high 41 of the 75 laps. Other leaders included Joey Logano, Austin Dillon, Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick, Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott.

The race featured two caution flag periods. The first caution flag period took place during the scheduled competition caution following the 25th lap of the race, and the second caution flag period took place when Jamie McMurray spun on lap 34. The race finished under green flag conditions despite the fact that a wreck involving Kyle Larson, Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, Martin Truex Jr., Chase Elliott and Kasey Kahne took place on the back straightaway on the race’s final lap. Johnson has now wrecked out of the Clash in seven consecutive seasons.
