Conclusion

There is really no doubt that Team Penske are the top team in the sport heading into the 2018 IndyCar season, especially given what they have been able to accomplish in the sport over the years and most notably as of late.

However, given the introduction of the universal aero kits, will there be teams that give Team Penske a run for their money as far as being the top team in the sport goes? There are certainly some hungry teams out there that could do so, particularly Honda-powered teams.

Andretti Autosport and Chip Ganassi Racing have both been strong in recent years, and Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing becoming a two-car team could play to their advantage given how strong they have been even with only one full-time driver in recent years.

Schmidt Peterson Motorsports and Dale Coyne Racing also showed strength in the 2017 season even though they were at a disadvantage aerodynamically at most tracks. How will they perform in the new universal aero kits?
