Many people have joked that the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg is kind of like “Spring Training” for IndyCar, as the series does not get back in action for another four weeks.
That said, results from the race do count toward the 2018 IndyCar championship.
The next race is set to take place on the ISM Raceway oval in Avondale, Arizona on Saturday, April 7th. The race’s date is moved up from last year’s date thanks to the fact that this year’s NCAA men’s basketball tournament Final Four is not being held in Phoenix.
