The 2018 Formula 1 season is officially underway with the completion of the Rolex Australian Grand Prix. Which teams got off to a hot start?

Sebastian Vettel opened up the 2018 Formula 1 season just like he opened up the 2017 Formula 1 season, and that is by winning the Rolex Australian Grand Prix to put himself on top in the driver standings and to put Ferrari on top in the constructor standings.

Vettel, who drives for Scuderia Ferrari, won the race after taking the lead thanks to the fact that he was able to make his pit stop under a virtual safety car period, which allowed him to overtake Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport’s Lewis Hamilton, who started the race from the pole position, for the lead.

Hamilton was never able to bounce back, and Vettel, who started the race in 3rd place, ended up going on to win the race, with his teammate Kimi Raikkonen giving Ferrari two of the three spots on the podium in 3rd. Hamilton ended up finishing in 2nd.

Mercedes’ other driver, Valtteri Bottas, finished the race in 8th place after starting back in 15th thanks to a wreck in qualifying. Haas had a strong day early on with both of their drivers, Kevin Magnussen and Romain Grosjean, running well in the top 5, but wheel issues ended both of their races prematurely.

Here is the first edition of the new formulated 2018 Formula 1 Team Power Rankings in addition to the non-formulated Formula 1 Team Power Rankings.
