Charlie Kimball topped the second and final practice session for the second race of the 2018 IndyCar season at ISM Raceway in Phoenix.

Charlie Kimball topped the second and final practice session for the second race of the 2018 IndyCar season, which is the Desert Diamond West Valley Casino Phoenix Grand Prix at ISM Raceway in Avondale, Arizona.

Kimball posted a top lap speed of 179.797 miles per hour (20.4631 second) around the four-turn, 1.022-mile dogleg oval in his #23 Chevrolet for Carlin Motorsport. He is set to start tomorrow night’s race way back in 22nd place after a lackluster qualifying run.

The fastest Honda driver of the practice session was Scott Dixon in his #9 Honda for Chip Ganassi Racing. Dixon also had a lackluster qualifying run and is set to start the race back in 17th place.

Here are the full qualifying results for the race.

Race polesitter Sebastien Bourdais only ended up finishing the second practice session in 21st place in his #18 Honda for Dale Coyne Racing, while Simon Pagenaud, who is set to start alongside Bourdais on the front row in the race tomorrow, finished the session in 12th in his #22 Chevrolet for Team Penske.

There will be no more practice sessions prior to the race itself, which is scheduled to begin at roughly 9:35 pm ET tomorrow night and last for 250 laps. The fact that drivers will not get any track time from now until the race itself leaves many questions unanswered for the race, such as whether or not there will be two grooves to race on throughout the evening.
