IndyCar: Alexander Rossi tops second Long Beach practice session

Alexander Rossi topped the second practice session for the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, which is the third race of the 2018 IndyCar season.
The second practice session for the third race of the 2018 IndyCar season, which is the 44th annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, was led by Alexander Rossi in his #27 Honda for Andretti Autosport.
Rossi topped the speed chart with a top lap time of 68.5567 (103.342 miles per hour) around the 11-turn, 1.968-mile temporary street circuit on the streets of Long Beach, California. He led a top 2 Andretti Autosport Honda sweep, with his teammate Ryan Hunter-Reay finishing the session in 2nd place.
The fastest Chevrolet driver n the practice session was Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden, who finished the session in 3rd place as the only Chevrolet driver in the top 5. The other two Chevrolet drivers who finished the session in the top 10 were Team Penske’s other two drivers, who are Will Power (6th) and Simon Pagenaud (10th).

The fastest driver of a non-Team Penske Chevrolet car in the practice session was Ed Carpenter Racing’s Spencer Pigot, who finished the session in 11th place. Last year’s Long Beach winner James Hinchcliffe finished the session in 7th as the fifth fastest Honda driver.
The third and final pre-qualifying practice session for the race is set to take place tomorrow at 1:45 pm ET before qualifying takes place at 6:30 pm ET. NBC Sports Network is set to broadcast qualifying live at that time.
The race itself is scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 15th at 4:30 pm ET after the final warmup session takes place at 12:00 pm ET. The race is set to be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network starting at 4:00 pm ET.
