Alexander Rossi topped the third practice session for Sunday’s Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, which is the third race of the 2018 IndyCar season.
The third and final pre-qualifying practice session for the third race of the 2018 IndyCar season is in the books, and Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi found himself on top of the speed chart for the second practice session in a row.
Rossi topped the third practice session for the 44th annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach in his #27 Honda for Andretti Autosport with a top lap time of 66.6105 seconds (106.362 miles per hour) around the 11-turn, 1.968-mile historic temporary street circuit in Long Beach, California.
At the front of the field, it was all Andretti Autosport and Team Penske. Five of those team’s seven drivers occupied all five of the top 5 positions on the speed chart. Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden, Will Power and Simon Pagenaud finished the session in 2nd, 3rd and 5th place, respectively, in their Chevrolet cars, while Andretti Autosport’s Ryan Hunter-Reay finished in 4th in his Honda.

The top non-Andretti Autosport Honda driver was Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Graham Rahal in 6th place, and the top non-Team Penske Chevrolet driver was Ed Carpenter Racing’s Spencer Pigot in 7th.
There are no more practice sessions before qualifying takes place tonight at 6:30 pm ET and airs live on NBC Sports Network. The lone remaining practice session for the race is tomorrow’s warmup session, which is set to take place at 12:00 pm ET before the race takes place at 4:30 pm ET and airs live on NBC Sports Network starting at 4:00 pm ET.
