The 2018 IndyCar season’s fourth round is in now in the books. Who were the winners and losers from the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama?

It took two days, but IndyCar‘s Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama is finally finished. After rain forced the race to be suspended after just a handful of laps in on Sunday, the drivers managed to get most of the race in on Monday at Barber Motorsports Park before more rain hit late. That rain didn’t interfere with the ability to finish the race, though it did throw a wrench into some teams’ plans.

Which drivers left Alabama as winners? Which left as losers? Read on to find out.

Winners from Barber

Josef Newgarden

It was all Josef Newgarden in Alabama as he led 73 of 82 laps after starting in the pole position. His second victory of this young season moves him into the points lead and puts the defending champion in a good position heading into the month of May in Indianapolis.

Ryan Hunter-Reay

After finishing 20th at Long Beach, Ryan Hunter-Reay earned his first podium of the season at Barber. He wasn’t able to get close to Newgarden and make it interesting at the end, but it was a good race for the 2012 series champion.

Sebastien Bourdais

Oh, what could have been! Bourdais had a chance to win the race late, but the rain came, which allowed Newgarden to stop for fuel and rain tires. Bourdais stayed out too long before pitting for rain tires and ultimately finished fifth, but he deserves credit for his strategy calls and for being the only other driver aside of Newgarden to lead a lap.

Losers from Barber

Will Power

Power started second, but the rain got him in trouble on Sunday and Monday didn’t go much better, as the team repaired the car but Power didn’t finish the race. He ended up 21st, his second finish of 20th or worse this season. He’ll look to get his season turned around next month when IndyCar heads to Indianapolis.

More from IndyCar

Alexander Rossi

Rossi came in as the points leader and left as…not the points leader. A late spin after the final rain started dropped him down to 11th. After all the speed he’s shown this season, it’s likely that this was a minor bump along the way for Rossi.

Ed Jones

Jones wrecked Charlie Kimball on Sunday and then had electrical issues on Monday. It was not a great weekend for Jones, who has had an uneven season in his second year in IndyCar and his first for Chip Ganassi Racing. Can he compete for victories?
