Kyle Larson is set to start the 11th race of the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season, the AAA 400 Drive for Autism, from the pole position.

For just the second time in 11 races so far in the 36-race 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season, the driver of a Chevrolet car is set to start a race from the pole position. The first (and last) time this happened this season was when Alex Bowman qualified on pole for the season opener, the Daytona 500, in his #88 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports back in early February.

Kyle Larson qualified on pole in his #42 Chevrolet for Chip Ganassi Racing at Dover International Speedway in Dover, Delaware for the 2018 AAA 400 Drive for Autism. He did so by recording a lap at 158.103 miles per hour (22.770 seconds) around the four-turn, 1.0-mile oval.

The last time a Chevrolet driver started a Cup Series race from the pole position, a Chevrolet driver won the race, as Austin Dillon went on to win the Daytona 500 in his #3 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing. Will a driver earn Chevrolet their second victory of the season this weekend?

Starting alongside Larson in Sunday’s race is set to be the top Ford qualifier, Kevin Harvick, the driver of the #4 Ford for Stewart-Haas Racing. Toyota drivers Martin Truex Jr. of Furniture Row Racing and Kyle Busch of Joe Gibbs Racing, who won the October Dover race last season, are set to start the race in third and fourth place in their #78 Toyota and #18 Toyota, respectively.

Ricky Stenhouse is set to start the race in fifth place in his #17 Ford for Roush Fenway Racing alongside Chase Elliott in sixth in his #9 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports, giving each of the three engine manufactures not only one driver in the top three starting positions but two in the top six as well.

Last year’s spring Dover race winner, Jimmie Johnson, is set to start the race in 19th place in his #48 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports.
