Conclusion

Five of the 17 races on the 2018 IndyCar schedule are now in the books, meaning from here on out, there will be no guarantee that each driver’s average overall finish will match his average finish in the last five races.

More from IndyCar

It will be interesting to see how this affects the formulated IndyCar Driver Power Rankings moving forward, especially after next race, which is the Indianapolis 500, since that race is a double points race with additional points being awarded in qualifying.

Given the fact that both sets of the IndyCar Driver Power Rankings have changed significantly after each of the first five races so far this season, expect them to change significantly after the sixth race of the season and every race after that as well, especially given the fact that there is no longer a guarantee that each driver’s average overall finish will match his average finish in the last five races.
