Marco Andretti topped the speed chart in the third practice session for the 102nd running of the Indy 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Marco Andretti topped the speed chart in the third practice session for the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 at the four-turn, 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval in Speedway, Indiana. All 35 IndyCar drivers entered in the race participated in this practice session.
Andretti, who drives the #98 Andretti Herta Autosport Honda, topped the speed chart in the session with a top lap speed of 227.053 miles per hour (39.5383 seconds), which is the fastest of all Indy 500 practice session so far.
Andretti led a top four Honda sweep of the speed chart, and four different teams were represented by the four Honda drivers who took the top four spots in the session.

Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon finished in second place in his #9 Honda, Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Takuma Sato finished in third in his #30 Honda, and Schmidt Peterson Motorsports rookie Robert Wickens finished in fourth in his #6 Honda.
The fastest Chevrolet driver of the session was Carlin Motorsport’s Charlie Kimball, who finished in fifth place in his #23 Chevrolet. A.J. Foyt Enterprises’ Tony Kanaan, Harding Racing’s Gabby Chaves, and Ed Carpenter Racing’s Ed Carpenter finished right behind him in sixth, seventh and eighth in their #14 Chevrolet, #88 Chevrolet and #20 Chevrolet, respectively, giving Chevrolet drivers four spots in the top eight on the speed chart.
Honda drivers and Chevrolet drivers took five spots each in the top 10 on the speed chart in this session, as Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Oriol Servia finished in ninth place in his #64 Honda and Dreyer & Reinbold Racing’s Sage Karam finished in 10th in his #24 Chevrolet.
Team Penske’s Simon Pagenaud, who topped the speed chart in the first session, finished the session in 24th place in his #22 Chevrolet, while his teammate Helio Castroneves, who topped the speed chart in the second session, finished in 18th in his #3 Chevrolet.
