By Asher Fair
Alex Bowman, Daniel Suarez and A.J. Allmendinger are headed to NASCAR’s Monster Energy All-Star Race after winning a stage in the Monster Energy Open.
NASCAR‘s 50-lap Monster Energy Open, which featured 21 drivers vying for three positions in tonight’s Monster Energy All-Star Race, was thrilling from start to finish. The three stage winners are set to fill the 18th, 19th and 20th spots on tonight’s grid in the All-Star Race.
Hendrick Motorsports’ Alex Bowman won stage one, the first of two 20-lap stages around the four-turn, 1.5-mile Charlotte Motor Speedway oval in Concord, North Carolina, to lock himself into tonight’s All-Star Race in his #88 Chevrolet. As a result, he did not continue in the race after stage one.
Joe Gibbs Racing’s Daniel Suarez won stage two, the second of two 20-lap stages in the race, to lock himself into tonight’s All-Star Race in his #19 Toyota. As a result, he did not continue in the race after stage two.

A.J. Allmendinger won stage three, the 10-lap shootout, to lock himself into tonight’s All-Star Race as well in his #47 Chevrolet.
The fourth extra spot and 21st overall spot in tonight’s All-Star Race was given to the winner of the fan vote, which was Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott, the driver of the #9 Chevrolet, for the third consecutive season. He has now won the fan vote for three consecutive seasons, his three full-time seasons in the sport.
