Sage Karam topped the speed chart in the eighth and penultimate practice session for the 102nd running of the Indy 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Dreyer & Reinbold Racing’s Sage Karam topped the speed chart in the eighth practice session for the 102nd running of the Indy 500, the sixth race of the 2018 IndyCar season, on Monday afternoon after he qualified in the 24th position on the grid in yesterday’s qualifying session.

Karam did so by recording a lap at 226.461 miles per hour (39.7419 seconds) around the four-turn, 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval in Speedway, Indiana. That lap was more than one mile an hour faster than anyone else’s fastest lap of the practice session.

Karam led a 1-2 Chevrolet sweep of the practice session in his #24 Chevrolet, as A.J. Foyt Enterprises’ Tony Kanaan finished in second place in his #14 Chevrolet. The highest finishing Honda driver in the session was Andretti Autosport’s Ryan Hunter-Reay, who finished in third in his #28 Honda.
