Kimi Raikkonen’s wife Minttu took a jab at four-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton following Hamilton’s remarks after the British Grand Prix.
Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport’s Lewis Hamilton made remarks following the 10th race of the 21-race 2018 Formula 1, the British Grand Prix, insinuating that Scuderia Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen spun him out on purpose on the first lap of the race.
Hamilton started the 52-lap race around the 18-turn, 3.661-mile (5.891-kilometer) Silverstone Circuit in Silverstone (part Northamptonshire and part Buckinghamshire), England, United Kingdom from the pole position, but he was quickly shuffled back to third place after the start after Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel and Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas passed him for first and second, respectively.
Raikkonen then attempted to pass Hamilton for third place, but in doing so, he ran into the back of Hamilton’s Mercedes and spun him out, which sent him to the back of the pack in 18th. Raikkonen was issued a 10-second penalty as a result of this incident.

Raikkonen served this penalty pits and ended up finishing the race in third place. Meanwhile, Hamilton managed to rally and still finish ahead of Raikkonen in second, which is likely where he would have finished the race even had he not gotten spun out by Raikkonen on the first lap.
Hamilton was able to rally thanks to a fast race car (and a minimally damaged if at all damaged race car despite what he kept arguing with his team about on the radio), opportunistic driving, two safety car periods and a tire strategy that panned out.
However, the four-time Formula 1 champion was still not pleased with Ferrari after the race since Raikkonen spinning him out marked the second time in the last three races during which a Ferrari driver spun out a Mercedes driver in the first lap, as Vettel spun Bottas out heading into the first turn of the French Grand Prix, a race in which Hamilton started from the pole position, dominated and won, just over two weeks ago after they started in third and second place, respectively.
Here is what Hamilton had to say about the matter, according to ESPN.
"“This is the greatest crowd in the world, and I’m sorry I wasn’t able to bring it home for them. I’ll never give up.. The team did a great job this weekend and there’s been a lot of pressure on for us all. Interesting tactics I would say from their side but we will do what we can to fight them in the next.“All I’ll say there’s now two races the Ferraris have taken out one of the Mercedes. A five-second penalty [for Vettel in France] and a 10-second penalty doesn’t feel…It is a lot of points Valtteri and I have lost in those incidents. Obviously it’s a racing incident and I can’t see behind me. We need to position ourselves better so we’re not exposed to the red cars because who knows where they are going to be.”"
Minttu Raikkonen, the wife of Kimi Raikkonen, did not take too kindly to the 33-year-old’s remarks insinuating that the incidents caused by the Ferrari drivers, including the one in the British Grand Prix caused by her husband, over the course of the last three races have been orchestrated and intentionally designed to influence the driver and constructor championship battles.
Vettel currently leads the driver standings by eight points over Hamilton (171 to 163) and Ferrari currently lead the constructor standings by 20 points over Mercedes (287 to 267).
Minttu responded to Hamilton’s remarks by posting a message on her Instagram story that read: “IF YOU CRY LIKE A GIRL WHEN YOU LOSE, DO BALLET. #JUSTSAYING”.

Will Minttu Raikkonen’s message to Lewis Hamilton cause any friction between Hamilton and Kimi Raikkonen moving forward, or is their incident during the British Grand Prix water under the bridge now that Raikkonen apologized to Hamilton for making contact with his car on the first lap of the race and Hamilton accepted that apology?
