How do the 10 full-time IndyCar teams stack up against one another with just six races remaining on the 17-race 2018 schedule?

Schmidt Peterson Motorsports’ James Hinchcliffe earned his first victory of the 17-race 2018 IndyCar season and the sixrth victory of his IndyCar career by winning the season’s 11th race, which was the Iowa Corn 300.

Hinchcliffe’s win in the 300-lap race around the four-turn, 0.894-mile (1.439-kilometer) Iowa Speedway oval in Newton, Iowa was his first win since he won the race on the streets of Long Beach, California last season, and it was Schmidt Peterson Motorsports’ first win since that race as well.

With how fast Schmidt Peterson Motorsports’ drivers, Hinchcliffe and rookie Robert Wickens, had been so far this season up until the Iowa Corn 300, it seemed as though it would be only a matter of time before one of them broke through and finally got to victory lane. That proved to be the case at Iowa Speedway.

More from IndyCar

As a result of Hinchcliffe’s victory in the Iowa Corn 300, which was his second career victory at Iowa Speedway, Schmidt Peterson Motorsports became the fifth team to win at least one race so far this season, meaning half of the sport’s full-time teams have won at some point in 2018.

Three of the other four teams that have won at least one race so far this season have won multiple races. Those three teams are Team Penske, Andretti Autosport and Chip Ganassi Racing, and they have won five, two and two races, respectively, so far in 2018. Dale Coyne Racing have earned one victory so far this year.

How did the action from the Iowa Corn 300 affect the IndyCar Team Power Rankings? Here are the formulated IndyCar Team Power Rankings and the non-formulated IndyCar Team Power Rankings following Schmidt Peterson Motorsports’ first victory of the 2018 season.
