Scott Dixon topped the speed chart in the first practice session for the 12th race of the 2018 IndyCar season, the Honda Indy Toronto.
Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon topped the speed chart in the first of three practice sessions for the Honda Indy Toronto, which is the 12th race of the 17-race 2018 IndyCar season. The race is the eighth of 11 road or street course races of the season, and it is the fifth and final street course race of 2018.
Dixon topped the speed chart in the practice session by recording a top lap time of 60.7474 seconds (105.842 miles per hour) in his #9 Honda around the 11-turn, 1.786-mile (2.874-kilometer) temporary street circuit at Exhibition Place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Dixon led a top six Honda sweep of the speed chart in this practice session. Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Graham Rahal, Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi, Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Takuma Sato, Andretti Herta Autosport’s Marco Andretti and Dale Coyne Racing’s Sebastien Bourdais finished the session in second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth place in their #15, Honda, #27 Honda, #30 Honda, #98 Honda and #18 Honda, respectively.

Team Penske’s Will Power was the highest finishing Chevrolet driver on the speed chart in the practice session. He finished in seventh place in his #12 Chevrolet. His two teammates, Simon Pagenaud and Josef Newgarden, finished in 12th and 13th in their #22 Chevrolet and #1 Chevrolet, respectively.
The only non-Team Penske Chevrolet driver who finished the practice session in the top 14 on the speed chart was A.J. Foyt Enterprises rookie Matheus Leist. Leist was the second highest finishing Chevrolet driver in the session, as he finished in ninth place in his #4 Honda.
The second practice session for the Honda Indy Toronto is scheduled to take place this afternoon at 2:30 p.m. ET, and the third and final practice session for the race is scheduled to take place tomorrow morning at 9:50 a.m. ET. Qualifying for the race is scheduled to take place tomorrow afternoon at 1:55 p.m. ET.
All three of these sessions are scheduled to be broadcast live on IndyCar RaceControl, the IndyCar app, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. Qualifying is scheduled to re-air at 5:00 p.m. ET tomorrow evening on NBC Sports Network.
