How do the 2017-2018 Formula E driver standings, team standings and win droughts look now that the season has been completed?
To close out his 2017-2018 Formula E championship-winning season, Techeetah’s Jean-Eric Vergne put an exclamation mark on his title run by dominating the second race of the 2018 New York City ePrix, which was the 12th and final race of the season.
Vergne, who had already secured the 2017-2018 Formula E driver championship as a result of his fifth place finish in the first race of the New York City ePrix, dominated the 43-lap race around the 13-turn, 1.21-mile (1.947-kilometer) Brooklyn Street Circuit in Red Hook, Brooklyn, New York in his #25 Spark-Renault.
While Vergne won the race by just 0.508 seconds over second place finisher Lucas di Grassi, who drives the #1 Spark-Audi for Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler, he won it after leading all 43 of its laps. After he started the race in third place, he took the lead from race polesitter Sebastien Buemi in the first turn and never looked back.

Thanks to the fact that di Grassi, who was last season’s Formula E champion, finished all of the last seven races of the season in the top two as well as the fact that he was able to secure two victories during that span, he moved up to second place in the driver championship standings behind Vergne despite the fact that he failed to finish in the top 13 in any of the season’s first four races.
The recent success of di Grassi as well as his teammate, Daniel Abt, propelled Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler to the unlikeliest of team championships as well, as they moved ahead of Techeetah by two points in the team championship standings following the second race of the New York City ePrix.
In the season’s last eight races, di Grassi and Abt combined for 10 top two finishes and four victories, and they secured two 1-2 finished together after what was a disastrous start to the season for Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler. This disastrous start included di Grassi and Abt combining for four retirements/disqualifications in the first four races of the season.
Here are the updated Formula E driver standings and Formula E team standings following the second race of the 2018 New York ePrix at the Brooklyn Street Circuit in Red Hook, Brooklyn, New York. These standings are the final standings of the 2017-2018 Formula E season.
