Lucas di Grassi earned his second victory of the 2017-2018 Formula E season by winning the first race of the 2018 New York City ePrix.

Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler’s Lucas di Grassi won the first of two races of the New York City ePrix. His win in the 11th race of the 12-race 2017-2018 Formula E season is his second win of the season, and it is his second consecutive victory, as he also won the Zürich ePrix.

The 2016-2017 Formula E champion won the race in his #1 Spark-Audi around the 13-turn, 1.21-mile (1.947-kilometer) Brooklyn Street Circuit in Red Hook, Brooklyn, New York by 0.965 seconds over teammate Daniel Abt in second place in his #66 Spark-Audi.

As a result, Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler earned their third consecutive victory and their second 1-2 finish in the last three races, as Abt won the Berlin ePrix ahead of di Grassi in second place.

Renault e.dams’ Sebastien Buemi, who started the race from the pole position, rounded out the podium in third place in his #9 Spark-Renault.

Championship contenders Jean-Eric Vergne of Techeetah and Sam Bird of DS Virgin Racing finished in fifth and ninth place in their #25 Spark-Renault and #2 Spark-Citroen, respectively.

The race featured a total of two lead changes among three drivers. Aside of di Grassi, two drivers led at least one lap of the race. Those drivers were Abt and Buemi. Di Grassi led more laps than anybody else in the field, as he ended the race with 20 laps led.

The race was scheduled to last for 45 laps, but it ended up becoming a timed race as a result of a late safety car period that took place as a result of Alex Lynn crashing. The race ended up lasting for 43 laps.
